Mad Science of St. Louis is seeking dynamic and charismatic performers to lead exciting science-themed assemblies for elementary school students. As a "Mad Scientist," you will engage with audiences of up to 250 students, delivering interactive presentations that last between 45 to 60 minutes. Your role will involve performing fun and educational science demonstrations, such as creating chemical reactions, shooting smoke rings, and even taking kids on hovercraft rides. This position is perfect for individuals who love science and enjoy performing in front of large groups, as you will be responsible for bringing science to life in a way that captivates and inspires young learners. In this role, you will not only perform but also engage with children through questions and spontaneous interactions, making each presentation unique and lively. Your acting, performing, and improvisational skills will be essential in capturing the imagination of your audience. You will travel to various schools and event venues across the St. Louis area, so having a reliable vehicle is a must. The position offers a flexible schedule, allowing you to work during school hours with occasional night events, and we will schedule performances based on your availability. We provide complete training, scripts, all necessary equipment, and ongoing support to ensure you are well-prepared for each show. This is a very part-time position, and the number of shows you receive will depend on your schedule, the time of year, and the shows you have learned. Starting pay is $45 per 45-60 minute show, with opportunities to learn more shows and increase your earning potential.
