DWM Intern - 2026 College Student Summer Internship – Office of Safety Security and Emergency Management
About The Position
The Department of Watershed Management, Office of Safety Security and Emergency Management, comprised of highly dedicated and committed Safety and Security professionals that provide a secure and safe environment for DWM personnel and visitors. DWM Security Unit proactively conducts patrols at twenty-eight Watershed critical infrastructure facilities to control access, deter theft, security violations, investigate breaches of security or hazards that might jeopardize or impact operations and facilities. Responsibilities: These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. May perform other duties as assigned. Safety Office: – The mission of the Safety Unit and its key role is to help DWM employees go home as safe and as healthy as they arrived. This is accomplished by promoting safe work practices that do not harm the environment, encouraging employees to comply with any and all rules and regulations pertaining to occupational health and safety and the environment; and by protecting DWM resources through sound administration of the City of Atlanta.
Requirements
- Must be eighteen years of age or older
- Must be authorized to work in the United States of America
- Must be a sophomore or above college student at application submission
- Minimum overall GPA 3.0
- Must attach College Transcript – Unofficial IS acceptable (NO screenshots)
- Currently pursuing a bachelors, associates or above from an accredited college or university.
- Must have at least one remaining semester at the start of the internship

- Effective verbal and written communication
- Excellent customer service
- Computer skills
- Ability to multitask
- Knowledge of safety protocols

Responsibilities
- Assists in facilitating and implementing safety inspections, facility inspections, construction crew inspections.
- Assist with accident investigations and performing safety training.
- Assist with safety analysis and reporting.
