About The Position

The Office of Financial Administration oversees the budgeting, accounting, and financial management functions of the Department of Watershed Management. The office ensures fiscal responsibility, compliance, and efficiency across all financial operations. The intern will work closely with the financial administration team to assist with daily work functions and scheduled projects. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to gain practical experience in public sector financial management, budgeting, and data analysis. The intern will also collaborate with team members to prepare and meet weekly reporting requirements, supporting the department’s commitment to accuracy and accountability.

Requirements

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States of America
  • Must be a sophomore or above college student at application submission
  • Minimum overall GPA 3.0
  • Must attach College Transcript – Unofficial IS acceptable (NO screenshots)
  • Currently pursuing a bachelors, associates or above from an accredited college or university.
  • Must have at least one semester remaining at the start of the internship
  • Must attach Resume (NO screenshots)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal abilities.
  • Effective problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Interest in finance, accounting, business administration, or public management.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information.

Responsibilities

  • Assist team members with daily financial and administrative tasks.
  • Support data collection, entry, and analysis for financial and budget reports.
  • Help prepare weekly and monthly reporting documents in collaboration with team members.
  • Participate in financial reconciliation and documentation processes.
  • Assist with tracking expenditures, invoices, and purchase orders.
  • Conduct research and compile information for ongoing financial projects.
  • Maintain organized records and ensure data integrity.
  • Attend team meetings and contribute to discussions on process improvements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the Office of Financial Administration.
