About The Position

The Duty Manager – Aircraft Maintenance serves as the senior technical authority during assigned shifts, overseeing all aircraft maintenance operations in a 24/7 ground handling environment. This role provides hands-on technical leadership, operational oversight, and coordination of Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) training and airline-specific qualifications to ensure maintenance activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and customer requirements. The Duty Manager ensures operational readiness of supported aircraft, provides technical guidance to AMT Leads and technicians, and coordinates maintenance activities with airline customers and airport operations. This is a salaried, exempt position. Safety-Sensitive Position This position is classified as safety sensitive. The Duty Manager must comply with all applicable regulations of the Federal Aviation Administration, Transportation Security Administration, and U.S. Department of Transportation, as well as company safety policies. Employees in this role are subject to pre-employment, random, post-incident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing in accordance with federal regulations.

Requirements

FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License.
Minimum 3–5 years of aircraft maintenance experience.
Hands-on experience with transport category aircraft.
Demonstrated advanced troubleshooting and aircraft systems knowledge.
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate airport vehicles.
Ability to obtain and maintain airport security badging.
Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays in a 24/7 operation.
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds, occasionally with assistance.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience as AMT Lead, Crew Chief, or senior maintenance authority.
Experience coordinating AMT training and qualification programs.
Airline maintenance experience preferred.
Familiarity with ground handling or line maintenance operations.
Experience mentoring or developing technicians.

Responsibilities

Oversee and perform line maintenance and transit inspections on transport category aircraft including B777, B747, B737, B767, and A319/A320/A321 aircraft.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, avionics, and structural issues.
Perform component removal and replacement, system operational checks, and aircraft functional testing.
Ensure all maintenance is conducted using approved maintenance data and procedures.
Provide senior-level technical guidance and support to AMT Leads and maintenance personnel.
Mentor technicians on troubleshooting techniques, maintenance standards, and safety practices.
Serve as the primary technical escalation point during assigned shifts.
Coordinate AMT training and airline-specific qualification programs to ensure technicians maintain required certifications and authorizations.
Support the development of technician skillsets and operational readiness.
Coordinate maintenance activities with airline maintenance control, flight operations, and airport operations regarding aircraft status and operational impacts.
Communicate aircraft maintenance status, delays, MEL/CDL items, and operational issues to internal leadership and airline customers.
Maintain situational awareness of all maintenance activities across assigned shifts.
Lead maintenance response during irregular operations (IROPs), aircraft on ground (AOG) situations, and operational disruptions.
Prioritize maintenance resources to minimize operational delays and ensure aircraft readiness.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with FAA regulations, company procedures, and airline customer requirements.
Verify accuracy and completeness of maintenance records and aircraft logbook entries.
Enforce all safety policies and regulatory requirements.
Drive airport vehicles between gates, aircraft stands, and operational areas to support maintenance operations and respond to aircraft maintenance needs.
The Duty Manager has the authority to stop maintenance activities or aircraft release if safety, regulatory compliance, or airworthiness concerns exist.
