About The Position

The position at Worthington Equip involves a comprehensive understanding of the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) industry, including the intake process, product selection, dispensing and setup, documentation, billing, compliance, and performance management. The role requires first-line communication with patients, referral sources, and clinicians to facilitate the ordering and delivery of DME products, supplies, and services. Responsibilities include processing patient information accurately and timely, handling inquiries and orders through various channels, and ensuring compliance with payer requirements. The position also involves educating patients on insurance plans, assisting with product selection, and maintaining a clean and stocked store environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of computer functions and basic Microsoft Office applications.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent documentation skills.
  • Basic knowledge of the medical field, with prior experience in home medical equipment preferred.
  • Current valid driver's license and must meet medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category III drivers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line communication with patients, referral sources, and clinicians.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of patient information.
  • Receive inquiries and orders in person, by telephone, fax, and email.
  • Gather necessary documentation related to payer requirements.
  • Obtain prior authorizations for services according to payer policy.
  • Communicate with patients and caregivers regarding DME products.
  • Resolve customer concerns and complaints.
  • Input new patient demographics and ordering information into the system.
  • Educate patients on insurance plans and financial responsibilities.
  • Assist patients with product selection and fitting.
  • Process paperwork and confirm accuracy of delivery tickets.
  • Maintain knowledge of billing and reimbursement guidelines.
  • Balance cash drawer and prepare deposits.
  • Maintain a clean, stocked, and sanitized store.
  • Complete tasks with minimum supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
