Summary: The Dump Truck Driver is responsible for hauling various materials such as asphalt, milling, dirt and salt on federal, state, and local jobs located in Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED,
  • Must work snow and inclement weather,
  • Possess a CDL class A/B valid drivers license with a clean driving record,
  • Previous experience one (1) year operating dump truck with manual or automatic transmissions,
  • Must possess one (1) years of experience on major roadways during inclement weather, such as snow and ice storms with operating a snow plow and spreader,
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete appropriate paperwork,
  • Possess valid DOT medical card,
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a dump truck throughout the DC–MD–VA region in compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations, company policies, and roadway safety standards.
  • Transport materials and equipment to and from job sites; verify material type and weight, and properly load, secure, and unload cargo in accordance with federal cargo securement requirements.
  • Conduct and document required pre-trip and post-trip inspections (DVIRs); ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in proper working order and promptly report defects, incidents, or anticipated repairs to supervisors and dispatch.
  • Maintain vehicle roadworthiness, cleanliness, and required equipment and supplies at all times.
  • Communicate daily with supervisors/dispatch regarding route conditions, equipment status, or operational issues; follow written and verbal instructions while working independently to meet schedules.
  • Operate vehicles safely in inclement weather, including rain and mandatory snow season operations, and consistently wear required PPE and proper work attire.
  • Must be able to drive and operate vehicle in inclement weather such as rain or snow,
  • Understands and carries out written and verbal instructions,
  • Work independent of supervision to complete assigned tasks and maintain schedule,
  • Must wear proper attire at all times including PPE,
  • Required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends,
  • Additional duties as assigned.
