About The Position

The Dump Room Operator at Tyson RVI-Harmony rendering plant is responsible for overseeing the reception and initial processing of raw materials, including animal by-products and other feedstocks. This position requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Dump Room Operator will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe handling of raw materials to support production operations.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing, production, or industrial setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions, procedures, and safety protocols accurately.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures applicable to dump room operations and industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks as required.

Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming raw materials, including animal by-products, fats, and oils, and verify quantities and quality against delivery documents.
  • Operate equipment such as conveyors, pumps, and hoists to transfer raw materials from delivery trucks to designated storage areas or processing equipment.
  • Inspect raw materials for foreign objects, contaminants, or abnormalities, and take appropriate actions to address any issues identified.
  • Monitor equipment operation and performance, conducting routine inspections and maintenance to ensure reliability and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with production and logistics teams to schedule dump room operations and prioritize processing needs based on production schedules and inventory levels.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Conduct quality checks on raw materials, including visual inspections, temperature measurements, and odor assessments, to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Record production data, equipment readings, and process parameters accurately and comprehensively in logbooks and computerized systems.
  • Clean and sanitize dump room equipment, work areas, and tools regularly to prevent contamination and ensure product quality and safety.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and efficiency enhancements.
