About The Position

This position is responsible to be hands-on support to the Community DSP’s and the Coordinator team. There is no supervisory responsibilities for this position.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment physical and meet Agency’s lifting requirements.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background and Adult Protective/Child Protective Services check.
  • Maintain current First Aid/CPR certification and pass all Agency mandatory training requirements.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with no major violations in the last five years.
  • Have an automobile with required State insurance coverage for transporting persons in services.
  • Ability to work scheduled hours and comply with attendance rules.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to utilize basic computer functions and email software.

Responsibilities

  • Split time between all environments assigned to their team.
  • Serve as a mentor for Direct support employees, being positive and kind.
  • Assure Fire and Tornado drills are complete and delivered to the area office.
  • Ensure water temperatures are completed and within established guidelines.
  • Provide oversight to medication counts and notify supervisor of concerns.
  • Check that all employees follow requirements for handling money.
  • Assure maintenance requests are completed and follow up on them.
  • Maximize independence in choices for supported persons.
  • Ensure individuals participate in community activities of choice.
  • Assist the OC with assessments for those supported.
  • Partner with ISP teams to develop programs for reaching goals.
  • Document accurately and timely on all Agency required systems.
  • Assist persons in accessing community health care providers and administer medication as prescribed.
  • Provide supports for persons to receive services in their home and access the community.
  • Transport or assist in transporting persons supported to various locations.
  • Teach and promote independence in daily living activities.
  • Provide opportunities for competitive employment if desired.
