About The Position

SHIELDS MIDDLE IS IN NEED OF A COMPREHENSIVE SCIENCE DUAL LANGUAGE TEACHER for 26-27 SY , must have passed Dual Screening and have an active application Summary: The Dual Language/Biliterate Teacher is responsible for the bilingual, bicultural, and biliterate instruction of designated content area(s)/course(s) in a classroom setting within a school. Requirements

must have passed Dual Screening
have an active application
Florida Professional Educator Certificate preferred.
Eligibility for Florida Temporary Certificate required.
Reads, analyzes, and interprets all kinds of documents.
Responds to inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or community.
Writes speeches and effectively presents to managers, the public, and school board.
Works with math concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry.
Applies concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Knowledge of relevant and current computer software programs.

Responsibilities

Designs and implements appropriate instruction of content area(s)/course(s) assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs.
Creates a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport.
Creates and delivers relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement.
Utilizes a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural, language proficiency levels and linguistic backgrounds that meet the individual needs of students.
Observes and evaluates student performance and mastery of standards, monitors student assessment data, and maintains student grades and attendance.
Manages student behavior in the classroom by utilizing effective classroom management strategies and invoking appropriate disciplinary procedures.
Communicates with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourages parental involvement.
Takes all responsible precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
Demonstrates an understanding of the process of second language acquisition and current pedagogical practices.
Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records, inquiries, and data.
Maintains appropriate certifications and professional development hours as required.
Continually acquires knowledge regarding best practices in Dual Language education specific to program model instructional and curriculum expectations.
Performs any other duties as assigned.
