In this role, you will review claims, analyze evidence, apply unemployment laws and policies, and make fair determinations regarding benefit eligibility. This position requires excellent judgment, strong written communication, and the ability to handle complex and sometimes ambiguous cases. This position involves working in an inbound/outbound contact center, handling phone calls with claimants and employers. Candidates must successfully complete intake training, which provides foundational knowledge of our systems and basic unemployment insurance processes, before progressing to adjudication training.

  • Review claimant and employer statements, documentation, and related evidence.
  • Interpret and apply unemployment laws, rules, and policies to adjudicate claims.
  • Identify and resolve conflicting information or discrepancies.
  • Make impartial and well-reasoned decisions on benefit eligibility.
  • Handle inbound phone calls professionally, providing information and assistance.
  • Prepare clear, concise written decision summaries and correspondence.
  • Manage caseloads efficiently and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess complex and conflicting information.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply laws, policies, and procedures accurately.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including proper grammar and clear expression.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail and high standards for accuracy and completeness.

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years' experience interacting with clients, customers, or the public in a social service, customer service or problem resolution setting. A working knowledge of Unemployment Insurance and/or previous experience interpreting various laws, regulations and agency policies.

  • Kansas residency at time of hire
  • Experience in claims examination, legal assistance, case management, or related fields.
