The Trailer Preventive Maintenance Technician will work cross-functionally across multiple areas of the garage. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to performing routine preventive maintenance repairs on trailers, performing emergency mechanical or electrical failures. The technician must have the ability to diagnose and repair brake and wheel end failures on trailers, perform minor structural welding and cutting tasks, and safely apply knowledge and troubleshooting skills to all assigned equipment. Effective communication with all transportation personnel, including managers, drivers, and clerks, is essential. The technician must be able to read and interpret instructions, manuals, and schematics, and possess basic math skills necessary to perform these tasks satisfactorily. Basic computer skills will be necessary to document information, process daily work orders, and complete required documentation. The trailer technician may be required to perform service calls on equipment at remote locations, and a current valid driver's license is required.
