Job Title: DSP Work site: Elizabethtown, IL Area of Focus: Developmental Services Program(s): Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) helps adults living with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities build well-being by providing them with a living arrangement where 8 or fewer unrelated adults live together with 24/7 support and access to individualized habilitation services under the direction of a community support team. DSP Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED DSP Immediate Supervisor: Director of Developmental Services Hours of Work: Full-time, 40 hours/week Shifts: Sunday: 12:00 am - 8:00 am Monday: 12:00 am - 8:00 am Tuesday: 12:00 am - 8:00 am Wednesday: Off Thursday: Off Friday: 12:00 am - 8:00 am Saturday: 12:00 am - 8:00 am DSP Experience & Credential Requirements: Must be an authorized Direct Support Person within 120 days of hire; Able to pass a reading test - reading at an eighth-grade level/or higher. DSP Special Requirements: Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs unassisted; Should be able to lift 195lbs with peer assistance or mechanical (Hoyer lift); at least 21 years of age; must complete required registry clearances and criminal fingerprint background checks; maintain CPR & First Aid Certification; maintain and provide proof of a valid driver's license and personal vehicle liability insurance. DSP Skills & Knowledge: Knowledge of local health and human services resources; Skilled in the understanding and delivery of habilitation services to adults with developmental disabilities; Knowledge of local health and human services resources; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Basic computer skills. DSP job duties include, but are not limited to: Ensures that the human rights of clients served are upheld in accordance with state and federal rules. Prevents, recognizes, and intervenes in accordance with OIG Abuse/Neglect Rule 50 and health, safety, and infection control procedures to ensure clients are kept safe and secure. Communicates and interacts with clients and peers in an effective, ethical and professional manner. Understands and actively participates in the service plan implementation as assigned by the Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional – QIDP. Assists clients with activities of daily living, personal care and hygiene, mobility, medication administration, and dietary needs. Understands and administers first aid, CPR, and monitors/reports vitals as required and communicates the health status of clients to the Registered Nurse. Effectively intervenes and participates in behavior intervention program as written per client, as applicable. Completes all required forms and documentation in a timely and efficient manner. Demonstrates active involvement in team/program meetings, supervision, and agency/community events and activities as assigned. Ability to screen, assess and provide interventions for clients that are exhibiting symptoms of trauma.
