About The Position

These positions exist to assist designated units with staffing needs such as vacancies and census above budget through the placement of experienced direct support professionals (DSP). These positions provide support for individuals and/or groups of persons with disabilities in the community. Assists the person(s) receiving services in identifying and communicating his or her requests and needs for services and supports. Implements services and supports to address the person’s goals and desired outcomes as identified through each person’s Centered Plan. Seek to understand the individuals in the context of their personal history, their social and family networks, and their hopes and dreams for the future. Relies on direction and supervision to accomplish the job. General Float Pool Overview: Float DSPs must commit to 4 shifts (8,10, or 12hr) at multiple units per 2-week schedule (one on a weekend shift). Float DSPs must work two out of the six winter dates listed here: Thanksgiving , Thanksgiving Eve (nights)/Black Friday (days) , Christmas Eve , Christmas Day , New Year’s Eve , and New Year’s Day . Float DSPs must work one of these summer dates: Memorial Day , July 4th , or Labor Day . Float DSPs are not allowed to receive any special pay or bonuses (paid by other units) except for their base pay as mandated by Human Resources, unless approved by leadership. Float DSP positions are temporary and based on need.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of direct caregiving experience in an IDD setting; with behavioral health experience preferred for some units
  • Complete all required training and competency checklists for the homes, clients, or units they may work in
  • Responsible for keeping all required licensure, certifications and CPR certification current
  • Complete all required RHA and unit specific annual competencies when due and this information should be recorded in Workday
  • Work requirements will be reviewed every month to determine continued eligibility for program
  • Regularly required to lift 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 70 lbs.
  • Must be able to pull a minimum of 50lbs.
  • Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop.
  • Must be able to regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Required to regularly stand and walk.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in CPR from the floor level requiring to work on hands, knees, bending, standing and lifting.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
  • Must be able to talk and hear
  • Complete criminal background
  • Name checked in the registries. (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities)
  • Drug testing
  • Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements.
  • Proof of employment history or references (if required)
  • Positions that require driving Proof of driver's license, driver's insurance, and vehicle, IF required for providing transportation for individuals.
