About The Position

Volunteers of America Mid-States (VOA) is a non-profit organization spanning four states that creates positive change in the lives of individuals and communities through a ministry of service. We provide housing for families, veterans, and low-income seniors. We provide care and support for individuals with developmental disabilities, healing accountability that brings people together with restorative justice, and free HIV testing and education. This role has the same job requirements as DSP/PBST; additionally requires flexibility to work 1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts and the ability to report to any of the agencies six residential home sites based on staffing needs.

Requirements

High School diploma or general equivalency diploma preferred, or commensurate skills.
Demonstrate the ability to adequately read, write and understand the English language.
Ability to work all three shifts without restrictions and ability to travel to any of six home sites.
Site-specific training will be required.
Understanding each individual’s support needs, preferences, routines, medical and behavior needs at each site
Ability to implement person-centered supports across all homes
Ability to transition between homes quickly while maintaining consistency of care
To work 1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts as assigned

Responsibilities

Monitor the comfort and safety of consumers’ served, while ensuring that the medical, nutritional, and personal care needs are being met.
Interact with consumers in an emotionally supportive and therapeutic manner, and practice effective techniques for reinforcing consumers’ behaviors.
Provide transportation and assist consumers with integration into the community by accompanying them to social and other activities of choice.
Perform general housekeeping, meal preparation, shopping, and laundry duties.
Complete assigned cleaning tasks and general maintenance on a routine basis in order to maintain a neat and clean environment.
Participate in all required on-going training programs and attend all mandatory staff meetings.
Performs all duties as assigned by supervisor.
