About The Position

Are you looking for a fulfilling career? If so, being a Direct Support Professional (DSP) may be the position for you! As a DSP you will use your caregiving and people skills to support individuals living with developmental disabilities to achieve their goals. You can get paid to take someone to the park while making a difference in their life! The Supported Living Program is for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities capable of living semi-independently. One to three people reside in townhouses or apartments. Each resident receives the degree of responsibility and supervision required to meet his or her individual needs. Hourly rate starting at $17.00 per hour. Full-Time Schedule 40 hours/week; this is a split shift schedule: Sunday-Thursday 7AM-11AM AND 5PM-9PM at SLP program locations in Woodbridge, VA 22191, 22192 and 22193.

Requirements

• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or mental health challenges, or transferrable skills that relate to serving this population (such as experience in education, caregiving, health care, other human services or customer service).
• Ability to pass criminal background check.
• Ability to attend and pass required trainings.
• A Valid driver’s license, minimum three-year acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.
• A High school diploma or GED.
• Flexibility and positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals living with developmental disabilities to achieve their goals.
• Provide caregiving and assistance in daily activities.
• Transport individuals using agency provided van.
• Work in residential group homes, day programs, and in the community.
