Boeing Defense, Space and Security is seeking DSP Algorithms Engineers (Lead or Senior) to join the Space, Intelligence and Weapons Systems teams in El Segundo, CA! Boeing's Space, Intelligence and Weapons Systems oversees the company's major commercial and government satellite and ground programs for communications, national defense, and other missions. As a DSP Algorithms Engineer, you will design and develop state-of-the-art, space-based communication systems for commercial, civil and/or national security programs. You will actively drive a highly-motivated team that works with domestic or international customers on their latest satellite systems. Project assignments typically span the unit life cycle, from internal trades, concept studies and system definition, to satellite unit development and test. Candidates will belong to or lead a systems engineering team interacting with customers, suppliers, program management, integration and test engineers, and senior technologists. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the El Segundo, CA, location. This worksite participates in Boeing's optional 9/80 schedule rotation. 9/80 is a rotation in which employees can work 9 hour shifts, 8 days per pay period (bi-weekly) and receive every other Friday off.

  • Designing and developing next generation RF and digital satellite communication systems
  • Developing and verifying multi-rate, fixed-point signal processing algorithms
  • Conducting performance analysis of signal processing models
  • Performing waveform development and characterization
  • Performing trade studies
  • Supporting integration ant test of our payloads and spacecraft from unit level through in-orbit operations
  • Supporting HDL-level design and verification
  • Performing detailed system design and verification activities
  • Leading teams
  • Leading IR&D activities
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Experience in one or more of the following: digital communication theory and systems, digital signal processing (DSP), algorithm design and implementation, or systems engineering principles.
  • 3+ (Lead) or 5+ (Senior) years of experience with Matlab or Simulink.
  • 5+ (Lead) or 10+ (Senior) years of experience in Digital Signal Processing or Digital Communications.
  • 3+ (Lead) or 5+ (Senior) years of experience in systems engineering concepts (requirements definition, allocation, verification, architecture design and trade design).
  • 1+ (Lead) or 5+ (Senior) years of experience working with FPGAs or ASICs
  • Lead level: typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications
  • Senior level: typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
  • This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • Experience with lab equipment (oscilloscope, waveform generator, spectrum analyzer).
  • Experience leading teams of engineers.
