About The Position

As a DSP-3 Activity Coordinator at TERI’s Center for the Arts, you’ll work directly with adults with developmental disabilities— particularly individuals with multiple or severe disabilities— in a creativity-focused environment. In addition to providing direct support, you’ll take an active role in shaping and adapting activities so every participant can engage meaningfully in art, music, movement, and life skills programming with the least amount of assistance possible. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on while supporting and guiding others. You’ll help set the tone for engaging, inclusive programming, collaborate closely with supervisors, and serve as a resource and mentor to DSP staff— contributing to a positive, supportive environment where participants and staff alike can thrive.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Must be able to obtain Class B Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree preferred
  • Four years of related experience and/or training working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
  • Experience supporting adults with complex behavioral and learning needs preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support 3–4 individuals in a group setting through daily activities and creative programs
  • Modify and adapt activities to meet the needs of individuals with multiple or severe disabilities
  • Ensure each participant has opportunities to engage with the least amount of assistance possible
  • Model and mentor DSP staff in active support, graded assistance, and positive engagement
  • Support individuals with activities of daily living at the appropriate level
  • Assist with daily living tasks such as personal hygiene, toileting, and occasional feeding
  • Foster independence and empower clients by offering choices throughout the day
  • Deliver individual program plans/goals and behavior support plans
  • Assist with interventions designed to protect individuals who engage in severe problem behavior and those around them
  • Administer medications and basic first aid as needed
  • Ensure safety and well-being by responding appropriately to challenging behaviors or medical needs
  • Collect required documentation including goal data, behavior data, and incident reports
