About The Position

The Equestrian Professional supports TERI’s equestrian program by assisting with therapeutic riding lessons and providing daily care for horses and program facilities. This role plays a key part in creating a safe, structured, and engaging environment where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities can build confidence, develop skills, and experience the benefits of equine-assisted activities. Working closely with program leadership, the Equestrian Professional contributes to both client support and overall program operations through hands-on instruction, collaboration, and a commitment to safety, quality care, and meaningful impact.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Minimum five-years related horse experience.
  • Comfortable teaching basic riding skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform stable management caring for horses and small animals.
  • Responsible for cleaning, upkeeping, repairing barn, stable and equipment.
  • Assist individuals during riding lessons by leading the horse, side walking, and/or stabilizing the individual, and providing assistance with mountain and dismounting.
  • Work with supervisor to provide basic riding plans.
  • Protects clients’ rights, safety, health, and welfare and best interest at all times.
