About The Position

Additionally, the role involves teaching skills, supporting advocacy, and facilitating ethical decision-making.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to meet essential physical demands of the position.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for working with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Basic computer skills including email and related systems.
  • Must hold or obtain and maintain SCIP-R certification within one year.
  • Must hold or obtain and maintain additional required certifications within one year.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to work beyond regularly scheduled hours as needed.
  • Must hold or obtain and maintain valid Driver's License and Van certification if required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists individuals in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities.
  • Supports people to meet personal goals that characterize quality of life.
  • Responsible for the overall supervision, protection, and care of individuals.
  • Ensures health, wellness, and safety by providing appropriate supervision.
  • Provides support in a variety of settings according to individualized service plans.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized therapeutic environment.
  • Utilizes safe handling procedures and implements infection control protocols.
  • Assists with personal care and activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Ensures medication is administered as prescribed.
  • Teaches and develops skills for individuals.
  • Facilitates ethical decision-making and supports self-expression.
  • Provides supervision for meal preparation in accordance with dietary restrictions.
  • Transports and escorts individuals to various activities and appointments.
  • Develops understanding of specialized clinical knowledge for person-specific needs.
  • Implements Behavior Support Plans as written by specialists.
  • Collects, records, and summarizes data on individuals' observable behavior.
  • Observes and reports changes in behavior to the clinical team.
  • Serves as a member of a highly effective team, providing feedback and maintaining a solution-oriented approach.
  • Completes and maintains necessary trainings and certifications.
  • Reviews communication logs and enters data as part of daily operations.
  • Complies with all regulatory agency requirements, including HIPAA.
  • Reports maintenance and safety concerns to supervisors.
  • Utilizes approved training techniques to respond to challenging behavior.
  • Provides coverage for other direct support staff as needed.
  • May participate in the development of treatment plans.
  • Operates YAI motor vehicle for transportation as required.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Compensation range of $16.78-18.31.
