About The Position

The Grounds and Nursery Services Specialist 5 position at the Fircrest Residential Habilitation Center involves supervising a grounds crew and performing skilled gardening work to maintain the expansive 88-acre campus. The role includes managing the Garden Shop, overseeing staff, and participating in the planning and execution of gardening and grounds maintenance programs, along with light maintenance and construction tasks.

Requirements

• Two years of experience in gardening, ground maintenance, nursery, parks or related activity; at least one year must have been in a lead or supervisor experience
• A college degree in agronomy, botany, horticulture, soils or closely allied field may substitute for gardening experience
• Ability to safely operate and maintain mowers, chainsaws, and other landscaping equipment
• Ability to perform heavy outside work in all types of weather
• Ability to work with individuals who are intellectually disabled and who may exhibit challenging behaviors or aggression

Responsibilities
