About The Position

The Attendant Counselor 3 position at the Developmental Disabilities Administration's Children's SOLA West Program involves providing direct support to children with developmental and intellectual disabilities in a community setting. The role focuses on implementing individualized support plans, fostering independence, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the children. This position also includes mentoring team members and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to enhance the quality of care and support provided to the children.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience working with people who experience developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or mental health challenges AND high school graduation or GED.
  • OR two years of experience as an Attendant Counselor 1, equivalent or higher-level state class.
  • Knowledge of habilitative services, behavior management, and IISP planning and implementation.
  • Strong written and verbal skills, with the ability to listen, instruct, and mentor effectively.
  • Experience managing challenging behaviors, including those with a dual diagnosis or developmental disability and mental illness.

Responsibilities

  • Implement individualized support plans that promote active treatment, skill development, and independence for children.
  • Act as shift lead, offering guidance, feedback, and coaching to team members.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, therapeutic programs, recreational activities, and educational efforts.
  • Implement behavioral support plans and provide care for children with challenging behaviors, ensuring safety and respect.
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to create, modify, and assess formal and informal skill-building programs.
  • Maintain a safe, clean environment while adhering to all care plans and state regulations.
  • Monitor and document client progress, communicate health and safety concerns, and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Transfer, reposition, and transport clients about the community home.
