About The Position

The Drywall Finisher performs skilled work finishing drywall panels in a variety of buildings by applying mud, taping, and sanding surfaces, skimming the walls, and professionally preparing the panels for painting or other finishing techniques. The successful candidate will also lead and help develop a small crew of manufacturing associates. This position offers an opportunity to be part of a new venture in Modular housing in the Cuero, TX studio, where strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership traits are essential.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience to a level 4 (smooth wall) drywall finish
  • Able to follow instructions, written and verbal
  • Follow all safety practices, and wear appropriate PPE
  • Able to work in a manufacturing environment including the physical demands of the job
  • Able to lift 50 lbs
  • Able to stand for 8+ hours to accomplish work tasks
  • Able to use the tools and processes for the role
  • Requires good manual dexterity (hand, arm, and multi-limb coordination)
  • Able to work overtime as scheduled

Responsibilities

  • Apply tape and texture within a production/plant environment
  • Handle objects such as joint tape, mud mixer, 25-pound bags of mix, mixing and cleaning station, mud pump, drying fan, bags of joint mud, vapor barrier spray gun, texture spray gun, stomping tool
  • Work in a safe manner and follow all safety policies while performing job duties
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow work orders and instructions on correct assembly of building components
  • Maintain open communication with supervisor regarding safety concerns and assembly of building components
  • Mix and apply mud to taped drywall seams
  • Apply vapor barrier using spray gun
  • Apply texturing material to ceiling using spray gun if required
  • Achieve a level 4 finish (smooth wall)
  • Clean and maintain equipment
  • Meet weekly production goals per assigned Department
  • Perform various other job duties as assigned and needed
  • Maintain a good attendance record
  • Demonstrate a good work ethic based on principles of honesty and integrity
