Primary Purpose: Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard; and installs doors, frames, and door hardware using carpenter’s hand tools and power tools, and conforming to local building codes.
Measures and cuts drywall panels to fit in and around specific spaces such as doors, windows, electrical outlets, and lighting fixtures.
Installs drywall panels to wood or metal studs.
Uses drywall compound to fill in and cover joints, screws, nails, and other imperfections.
Sands joint compound once dry and applies drywall tape.
Creates textured surfaces when requested.
Lay out and cut openings for windows, doors and vent areas
Install ceiling tile
Follow safety rules and regulations
Maintain a safe and clean work environment
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Ability to read simple building plans.
Ability to estimate quantity of materials required for a project.
Ability to measure and cut drywall to fit in specific spaces.
Excellent hand-eye coordination.
Ability to work independently and with a work crew.
Ability to use hand tools and power tools required for installing drywall.
Reliable means of transportation to and from the project.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous related experience preferred; on-the-job training offered.
Prolonged periods standing, climbing ladders, bending, and kneeling.
Physically able to install drywall and secure in place.
Able to access all areas of the jobsite, which include stairs, scaffolding, ladders, elevation changes, etc.
Capable of working in physical positions that may include kneeling, sitting, standing, squatting, bending, stooping, twisting etc.
Must be able to move, carry, or position items weighing up to 85 pounds
