For 75 years, Heggem-Lundquist Paint Company has been a mainstay in the Denver commercial construction industry. We're a family-owned and operated business with a reputation for taking care of our employees and clients in the best and worst of times. We've seen it all and pride ourselves in having a “can do” attitude. If this sounds like you, we'd like to invite you to join our team of best-in-class commercial drywall professionals. The drywall apprentice is an entry-level position focused on learning the skills and techniques required for installing drywall, which includes framing, hanging, and insulating drywall and acoustical ceilings. Drywall apprentices work under the supervision of experienced drywall professionals to develop their expertise in this field. The primary responsibilities of the drywall apprentice include assisting in the framing of walls and ceilings using light gauge and structural steel studs, cutting the panels as needed for doors, windows, electrical outlets, lighting, HVAC, and plumbing fixtures. The apprentice will carry and accurately install the drywall to size, ensuring limited waste, and attach the drywall to the walls. Additionally, the apprentice will cut metal and wood studs to size and apply drywall trims. The role also involves assisting in insulating wall and ceiling cavities with various types of insulation, cutting with a utility or filet knife as required. The apprentice will also cut and install metal ceiling grids and ceiling panels, ensuring precise dimensions and layouts per the plans for lights and mechanical fixtures. Maintaining an organized workspace is crucial, as the apprentice will protect surfaces, trimmings, fixtures, and windows while completing drywall work. The finisher is responsible for putting tools and equipment back in their proper place and returning any unused items at the end of a project. Safety is paramount, and the apprentice must follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for themselves and others on the job site. Learning and applying drywall techniques, understanding different types of drywall methods, and the safe operation of tools and equipment are essential aspects of this position. Teamwork is also vital, as the apprentice will collaborate with experienced drywall professionals and other construction team members to complete projects efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
