About The Position

Audubon Metals is seeking a Dryer Operator to join our team. As a Dryer Operator, you will be responsible for operating industrial equipment to ensure proper drying of materials. Your duties will include loading and unloading materials, setting and monitoring machine controls, and performing routine maintenance and cleaning. You will also be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the quality of the dried product, ensuring that it meets all necessary standards and specifications.

Requirements

  • Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools (hand tools and basic power/electric), including their uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Visual Alertness/Attentiveness - Must be able to remain visually alert to surroundings in the department
  • Speaking - Talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • Coordination - Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions.
  • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Math – The ability to compute and understand basic math.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time in a hot or cold environment. Standard shift is 12 hours.
  • Must be able to frequently move, lift, carry, push and pull materials weighing up to 50 lbs. When mechanical issues arise; may require manual labor for a short period of time; May occasionally include opening and closing the large swinging doors to the Dryer;
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, squat, sit, balance, twist at the waist & neck, and/or crouch to perform work over the duration of the shift.
  • Must be able to function in a loud, dusty, hot, cold, or humid environment for the duration of the shift.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator or dust mask, as needed.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and work on platforms at various heights.
  • Must be able to periodically work in a confined space.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of a combustion system is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Review with Dryer Operator leaving out for any equipment issues or concerns.
  • Examine equipment prior to use and complete pre-use evaluations, actions, and necessary paperwork.
  • Set and adjust machine controls to regulate temperature, pressure, and speed of the dryer.
  • Monitor the drying process and adjust as needed to ensure optimal results.
  • Shoveling material that falls on the floor to keep the area clean. Material may fall out of dryer, off the shaker tables, and/or conveyor belts.
  • Operate mobile equipment such as Fork Trucks, Skid Steers, and Loaders. An individual needs to have the ability to be trained. They may not be required to operate them on a regular basis, but need to be capable of doing so, if needed.
  • Working with molten aluminum: Pouring aluminum for samples to be tested
  • Report any and all equipment failures to the area's Team Leader.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Follow all safety procedures and protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
