About The Position

POSITION PURPOSE Entry level Plant Operator capable of routine plant operation with limited supervision. Assist with packaging of final product, inspections and basic plant tasks, follow work instructions, SOPs, and safety controls.

Requirements

  • No prior processing plant experience required; previous industrial, manufacturing, mining, or laboring experience desirable.
  • Willingness to complete required training, including MSHA Part 48.
  • Basic understanding of workplace health and safety principles.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including respiratory protection where applicable.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working safely and following instructions.
  • Ability to learn plant equipment, processes, and safe work procedures.
  • Capacity to work under direct supervision and follow directions accurately.
  • Ability to identify and report hazards, incidents, and abnormal conditions.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Willingness to perform physically demanding tasks and work in industrial environments.
  • Positive attitude, teamwork, and respectful communication.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills sufficient to complete checklists and reports.

Responsibilities

  • Operate plant processing equipment under direct supervision, in a safe and efficient manner, in accordance with site procedures and training received.
  • Operate forklifts under supervision to move product and load trucks, ensuring safe operation, correct material placement, and adherence to traffic management plans.
  • Safely operate various equipment used for plant operations and housekeeping tasks, including hand tools and mobile equipment as trained and authorized.
  • Perform routine plant maintenance tasks and assist maintenance personnel during scheduled down days, following lockout, isolation, and permit requirements.
  • Carry out assigned tasks in a satisfactory manner as instructed by the Supervisor, Lead Hand, or more senior operators.
  • Promptly report all accidents, incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, or potential hazards to the Supervisor, Lead Hand, or more senior staff.
  • Immediately report any conditions or issues that may impact employee safety, product quality, environmental performance, or plant productivity to the Lead Hand or Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment in accordance with housekeeping standards and site expectations.
  • Take care of company property, tools, equipment, and facilities, reporting damage or defects as identified.
  • Present a professional, positive, and attentive image while representing the company and interacting with colleagues and visitors.
  • Cooperate with, and be courteous and respectful toward, other employees, contractors, and supervisors.
  • Complete required workplace inspections, Take-5 risk assessments, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) prior to commencing work tasks, as trained.
  • Comply with site policies, procedures, and requirements aligned to ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environmental), and ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) management systems.
  • Take reasonable care for personal health and safety and that of others who may be affected by work activities, in accordance with site safety expectations.
  • Assist in other departments when required and when appropriately trained and supervised.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably directed by the Supervisor within the scope of training and competency.
