About The Position

The Drug/GM Manager is responsible for the overall operation and performance of the Drug and General Merchandise Department. This role ensures strong merchandising execution, accurate inventory management, effective associate leadership, and an excellent customer experience while driving sales, controlling shrink, and maintaining compliance with company standards and policies. Requirements

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of Drug/GM operations, merchandising, inventory management, and shrink control.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced retail environment.
  • Proficient in retail systems, reporting tools, and inventory technology.
  • Ability to motivate teams and drive accountability and results.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 40–50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous retail Drug/GM, center store, or department management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, train, and develop Drug/GM associates and supervisors.
  • Create effective schedules to align labor with business volume and productivity expectations.
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback and promote accountability and engagement.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and safety‑focused work environment.
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, stocking, rotation, and presentation of Drug and GM products.
  • Ensure shelves, displays, endcaps, and promotional areas are fully stocked, faced, and organized.
  • Execute planograms, resets, seasonal transitions, and merchandising initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate pricing, signage, and promotional execution.
  • Manage inventory levels to support sales while minimizing shrink, damages, and out‑of‑stocks.
  • Monitor and control high‑theft and regulated items in accordance with policy.
  • Analyze sales, shrink, and performance reports to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Control labor hours and department expenses within established targets.
  • Deliver an excellent customer experience through strong department standards and service.
  • Address customer questions and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure product assortment meets customer demand and store needs.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe department and backroom conditions.
  • Partner with Loss Prevention on shrink reduction strategies and theft prevention.
  • Partner with Store Leadership, Grocery, and other department leaders to support total store operations.
  • Support store initiatives, inventories, seasonal events, and special projects.
  • Serve as a key operational leader within the store.
