We are seeking a Drug and Alcohol Outpatient Therapist to join our Riverview Recovery Wellness Program in Philadelphia, Pa. The Drug and Alcohol Outpatient Therapist plays a critical role in supporting individuals struggling with substance use disorders by providing comprehensive outpatient counseling services. This position focuses on assessing clients' needs, developing personalized treatment plans, and facilitating individual and group therapy sessions to promote recovery and prevent relapse. The counselor collaborates with healthcare professionals, families, and community resources to ensure a holistic approach to each client’s rehabilitation journey. Success in this role is measured by the counselor’s ability to engage clients effectively, foster a supportive environment, and help clients achieve sustainable sobriety and improved quality of life. The counselor will work primarily at the outpatient facility located at 7979 State Road-0522E, serving a diverse population with compassion and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related human services field.
  • Experience providing counseling services to individuals with substance use disorders.
  • Strong knowledge of addiction treatment modalities and recovery principles.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in counseling.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an outpatient treatment setting is preferred.
  • Training in trauma-informed care and motivational interviewing techniques is preferred.
  • Familiarity with co-occurring mental health disorders and integrated treatment approaches is preferred.
  • Bilingual skills or experience working with diverse populations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Strong clinical skills with ability to facilitate group therapy based on identified topics as well as open topics
  • Strong clinical skills with ability to conduct effective individual therapy
  • Ability to assess individuals and recommend appropriate services based on clinical need as well as individuals’ ability and willingness to participate based on what stage of change they are in.
  • Ability to educate and encourage resistant individuals to participate in therapy services.
  • Ability to manage a caseload of individuals and have knowledge of their treatment progress, engagement level, and treatment needs. This also includes strong clinical documentation skills and ability to maintain individuals chart meeting program, local, state, and federal documentation requirements, and standards.
  • Motivation to outreach and re-engage individuals who lack engagement or are missing from treatment.
  • Above average demonstration of core clinical competencies: attending, active and reflective listening, use of open-ended questioning, focusing, building rapport, congruency, summarization, and managing silence.
  • Above average demonstration of - empathy, rolling with resistance, supporting self-efficacy, managing confrontation, and developing discrepancy.
  • Possess ability to establish rapport while maintaining professional boundaries.
