About The Position

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is looking for a part-time Drone Pilot Technician to assist with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) delivery using small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (sUAV). This grant-funded position requires the pilot to conduct operations at designated outdoor launch sites, ensuring the sUAV is prepared and airworthy for daily flights. The role is flexible, with hours varying based on candidate availability and agency needs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree and relevant certifications preferred.
• One year of experience as a sUAV pilot with at least 20 consecutive accident-free flight hours.
• FAA Remote UAS Pilot (Part 107) license required.
• NC DOT Government UAS Operator Permit required.
• NC DOT Commercial UAS Operator Permit required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct sUAV operations at outdoor launch sites.
• Prepare the sUAV and ensure its airworthiness for daily flights.
• Swap and charge batteries for the sUAV.
• Maintain airspace awareness during operations.
• Ensure safe landing of the sUAV upon return.
