About The Position
The Drivetrain Assistant Technician position at Zumbrota Drivetrain is designed for individuals looking to start their career in the automotive repair industry, specifically focusing on drivetrain components such as transmissions, transfer cases, and differentials. The primary function of this role is to assist in the disassembly and preparation of these components for re-manufacturing. This entry-level position provides an excellent opportunity for hands-on learning and skill development under the guidance of experienced drivetrain technicians. In this role, you will receive direction from the shop foreman regarding priorities and tasks. You will work closely with drivetrain technicians to identify units that require disassembly and preparation for re-manufacturing. This includes removing internal bearings and gears, sorting the removed parts, and placing them in designated containers for re-manufacturing. Additionally, you will be responsible for washing and blasting components and cases to ensure they are clean and ready for the rebuilding process. Maintaining a clean and safe workspace is crucial, and you will be expected to properly dispose of worn parts and follow safety protocols. The position may also involve other tasks as directed, including opportunities for cross-training in different areas of the shop, which can enhance your skills and versatility within the automotive repair field.
