About The Position

The Transportation employee "Driver" at Hope by the Sea is responsible for safely transporting clients in a social-model detoxification residential and/or sober living setting. This role is crucial in providing a supportive environment for clients during their recovery process, ensuring their safety and comfort while adhering to the agency's policies and procedures. The position requires cooperation with housing, management, and clinical staff, and a strong understanding of the treatment process and the challenges faced by clients.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid California Driver's License with a good driving record.
• Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients in a treatment setting.
• Basic knowledge of substance use disorders and addiction counseling.
• Time management skills to complete tasks timely and accurately.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a similar field preferred.
• Preferred minimum of one-year sobriety if participating in a recovery program.

Responsibilities

• Transport clients safely to and from appointments and activities.
• Manage and supervise clients by enforcing program rules and guidelines.
• Conduct weekly vehicle checks and maintain vehicle safety records.
• Ensure client attendance at daily recovery activities as scheduled.
• Report health and safety hazards and vehicle maintenance issues to the Safety Officer.
• Participate in emergency safety drills and ongoing health and safety training.
• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the assigned vehicle.
• Communicate regularly with supervisors about departmental concerns.
