About The Position

The Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting vacuum trucks and related equipment to client locations, as well as performing various shop duties when not on the road. Driving Responsibilities: Driving is a fundamental requirement of all shop roles at Vac2Go. Employees must safely and efficiently operate vehicles, including vacuum trucks, and adhere to all federal and state driving regulations to support daily operations and customer needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • CDL with tanker endorsement required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of driving experience in accordance with CDL requirements is required.
  • 1-3 years of experience with both automatic and manual equipment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a current DOT certification (CDL).
  • Able to provide 10 years of employment history.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in multiple forms.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with GPS devices is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Transport vacuum trucks and related equipment to client locations safely and on time.
  • Plan driving routes to determine the most efficient path.
  • Operate vacuum trucks safely.
  • Accurately communicate and document equipment drop-offs and pick-ups.
  • Report necessary maintenance or repairs to Fleet Maintenance Technicians promptly.
  • Assist with shop duties such as cleaning, managing parts, and other tasks when not driving.
  • Review Plan of the Day board and monitor for updates throughout the day.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles as required by DOT.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all vehicles and equipment.
  • Follow directions of Technicians to complete daily responsibilities.
  • Monitor the shop for safety concerns and address issues immediately.
  • Maintain accurate and updated documentation in the Fleet Management system for DOT requirements and submit to the Ops Manager daily.
  • Submit all expenses to the Accounting Department at the end of the delivery.
  • Ensure DOT physical card is carried at all times.
  • Maintain active personal auto insurance at all times.
  • Document and report all safety incidents to the Ops Manager immediately.
  • Maintain an active CDL license at all times.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with automatic and manual transmissions, GPS/navigation devices, and Fleetio Fleet Management System.
  • Knowledgeable in federal and state-specific DOT requirements and the use of vacuum equipment.
  • Identify the most efficient way to complete the daily route and anticipate challenges or resource needs.
  • Educate customers about the equipment in a clear and professional manner.
  • Address daily customer questions/concerns via phone, email, and in-person interactions promptly and professionally.
  • Demonstrate functionality of vacuum equipment to customers.
  • Report any concerns at delivery to the Ops Manager immediately before leaving the delivery location.
  • Deliver basic training to customers about each vacuum truck and equipment type as needed.
