About The Position

Camp Loyaltown is a large summer residential camp for children and adults with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. The Camp Loyaltown Driver is required to drive when the need arises in a safe and efficient manner. This may include drop-off and pick-up of staff, as well as camper trips to the doctor’s office or hospital. Driving will be 5 days a week on an on-call basis. Shifts will be arranged with the Program Coordinator of Activities. Values and Embraces Diversity in backgrounds and experiences for every person in every community. Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • U.S. citizenship
  • 20/20 corrected vision
  • Valid New York State Driver’s License
  • Clean driving record – no prior infractions
  • Ability to read road maps, use a GPS, and follow directions.
  • Physical aspects may include but are not limited to the ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Practices and promotes the agencies mission statements in every interaction:Through family and community engagement, Citizens support people to live the life they choose.
  • Adheres to all regulations, agency policy and procedures, the employee handbook, and agency and program training requirements.
  • Report to the Justice Center as a mandated reporter if there is reasonable cause to suspect abuse or neglect. Additionally, we must follow all agency incident policy and procedures.
  • Responsible for safely transporting campers and staff to and from the doctor’s office and hospital in a timely manner.
  • Familiarization with AHRC/Citizens Vehicle policy and procedures including trips records and mileage reports.
  • Drive staff for day off trips if approved by the Director of Camp, Assistant Directors, PC of QA and Compliance, PC of Training and Development and/or the PC of Activities when no other trips are scheduled.
  • Be on call for emergency situations as needed.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the camp vehicle.
  • Maintain the camp vehicle checklist and report any maintenance issues to the camp management.
  • Assist with unloading and loading camp equipment and supplies when needed.
  • Uphold and ensure the implementation of all Camp Loyaltown policies, procedures, rules and regulations and report any infractions should they occur to the PC of Activities, PC of QA and Compliance, PC of Training and Development and/or Assistant Director of Staffing and Training.
  • Maintain a professional and pleasant attitude when interacting with campers and staff.
  • Always follow safety protocols and guidelines. This includes but is not limited to, seating capacity of the agency vehicle, passengers are wearing seat belts properly, doors closed properly, no use of cell phones while driving, and headcounts are conducted for each trip.
  • Perform all other functions as requested by the Camp Director, Assistant Directors, PC of Activities, PC of QA and Compliance, and PC of Training and Development.
  • Any additional tasks assigned by supervisor.
