About The Position

The CDL Class B Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of goods in support of station operations. This role involves operating Class B commercial vehicles for local and regional deliveries, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations, and delivering excellent customer service. Responsibilities may be adjusted based on operational needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 1 year of commercial driving experience preferred
  • Valid CDL Class B license required
  • Current DOT Medical Card required
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required
  • Familiarity with the Metro Detroit area preferred
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Ability to safely operate Class B commercial vehicles
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices
  • Experience with liftgate operations and freight handling
  • Ability to operate forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Strong safety awareness and adherence to procedures
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to read and understand instructions, delivery documents, and safety guidelines
  • Ability to complete basic reports and communicate effectively with team members and customers
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)

Responsibilities

  • Operate Class B commercial vehicles (e.g., straight trucks, box trucks) for pickups and deliveries
  • Transport goods safely and efficiently while meeting delivery schedules
  • Load and unload freight, ensuring proper handling and securement
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete required documentation
  • Comply with all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company safety policies
  • Plan and follow efficient delivery routes using GPS and routing tools
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service at delivery and pickup locations
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and liftgates as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned vehicles
  • Report mechanical issues, delays, accidents, or safety concerns promptly
  • Assist with warehouse operations as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
