Morton Industries is hiring for a 1st shift Driver! SUMMARY Make pick-ups and deliveries. Checks or assists in the loading or unloading of trucks. Check quantities of goods received, obtain proper paper work for goods delivered or received. Requires a valid State of Illinois CDL Class A Driver’s License with Air Brake certification. Must have a clean driving record and meet all requirements of the company insurer. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Include, but are not limited to, the following: Maintains current State driver’s license for type of truck being operated. Must meet all State and Federal licensing and physical requirements. Drives truck to destination. Makes pick-ups and deliveries. Loads/Unloads materials or assists in same manually or by use of manual material mover or motorized industrial truck. Signs shipping documents to verify quantity and quality of materials. Maintains truck log, according to state and federal regulations. Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions. Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water. Performs "minor" operational needs such as gasoline refill, washing windows, etc. Reports "major" maintenance needs to Supervisor. Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs. Positions blocks and ties rope around items to secure cargo during transit.
