About The Position

Support Keshet’s mission to deliver high-quality recreational opportunities for children and adults with disabilities by safely transporting participants between their residences and program locations. This role includes responsibility for routine, non-mechanical upkeep of agency vehicles and maintaining accurate transportation records. This is a part time position with hours on Thursday's and Sunday's. HIGHLIGHTS: Safety-focused, reliable professional committed to transporting participants with care, respect, and professionalism. Confidently drive Keshet’s small bus and big van on assigned routes in compliance with traffic laws and safety guidelines, ensuring timely and comfortable arrivals. Creates a welcoming, supportive environment by greeting participants and families with warmth and kindness. Supports participants during programs, including supervision and personal care assistance as needed. Ensures participant safety through thoughtful seating plans and proper use of seat belts, supports, and tie-down systems. Assists with lifting, transferring, and positioning participants or equipment when required. Provides leadership and supervision to staff and volunteers while using agency vehicles. Takes ownership of routine vehicle care, including cleaning, trash removal, and basic non-mechanical upkeep. Completes route logs, attendance records, and other required transportation documentation accurately. Communicates clearly and professionally, building respectful relationships with participants, families, coworkers, and community partners. Responds promptly and courteously to calls, messages, and public inquiries. Upholds safety policies, reports incidents promptly, and supports Keshet’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values. ABOUT YOU!About You! At least 21 years of age with a valid Illinois Driver’s License and a strong driving record (no moving violations within the last 36 months). Brings interest or experience working with children and adults with disabilities and a genuine commitment to inclusive, respectful support. Physically able to lift up to 35 lbs., push wheelchairs, and safely assist with transferring, positioning, and supporting individuals with mobility needs. Comfortable maneuvering wheelchairs and equipment through tight spaces and over common barriers such as curbs, doorways, and small steps. Possesses the agility and flexibility needed to kneel, reach, rotate, run when necessary, and remain actively engaged with participants requiring close supervision. Demonstrates strong stamina, with the ability to work varied schedules, travel long distances, and keep pace with active participants. Approaches challenges with patience and professionalism, using sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and a calm demeanor in high-energy or stressful situations. Works respectfully and positively with individuals from all backgrounds in both public and private settings. Adaptable to diverse environments, including outdoor settings, varying weather conditions, and facilities with temperature changes or chemical exposures. Reliable, punctual, and flexible, with a strong sense of responsibility and teamwork. Holds or is willing to obtain First Aid, CPR, and AED certification, and is open to ongoing training and learning.
