About The Position
YWCA ULSTER COUNTY IS SEEKING A DEPENDABLE AND COMMUNITY-MINDED TRANSPORTATION DRIVER TO SUPPORT PARTICIPANTS IN THE PARENTING JOURNEY AT YWCA ULSTER COUNTY. UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE PARENTING JOURNEY TRANSPORTATION COORDINATOR, THE DRIVER PROVIDES SAFE, TIMELY, AND RESPECTFUL TRANSPORTATION FOR ELIGIBLE DSS CLIENTS, ENSURING FAMILIES CAN RELIABLY ACCESS CRITICAL SERVICES.
Requirements
- Experience driving a 12-passenger or similar vehicle
- Experience coordinating with a transportation dispatcher or supervisor
- Ability to adapt to changing routes and schedules
- Experience working with at-risk or vulnerable populations
- Strong communication skills and professional demeanor
- Commitment to safety, reliability, and confidentiality
Responsibilities
- Safely transport eligible DSS clients to and from The Parenting Journey program using a 12-passenger van
- Ensure timely arrivals and departures while maintaining a safe, calm, and respectful environment
- Pick up and return the van to its designated location as scheduled
- Clearly communicate and enforce vehicle safety rules with clients
- Report ongoing or serious rule infractions to the Transportation Coordinator
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and organization
- Promptly address and report client safety concerns
- Promptly report maintenance issues or vehicle damage
- Notify the Coordinator when the van reaches half a tank of gas
- Alert the Coordinator when deep cleaning or detailing is needed
