Available Shifts: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00 pm and 9:00 am-5:30 pm Occasional nights and weekends may be required for special events. Position Summary: The Driver is responsible for providing excellent customer service to all residents, their guests, volunteers, St. John’s employees, to and from their appointments and/or events, safely, courteously and reliably.

Requirements

  • GED or High School Graduate
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must meet DOT standards regarding drug abuse and alcohol misuse
  • Maintain a valid New York State Commercial Driver’s License (CDL- A or B) with Passenger endorsement and current DOT Card.
  • Wheelchair bus experience
  • Visual and auditory acuity, walking, climbing stairs, pushing wheelchairs, lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and bending to secure wheelchairs.
  • Driving outdoors in extreme weather

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily vehicle safety inspections
  • Maintain clean vehicles.
  • Transport passengers for appointments, safely, courteously and reliably.
  • Assist passengers in and out of vehicles as needed.
  • Relay any information that assists dispatch with daily schedules.
  • Record times and mileages for all trips on a daily basis.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings.
  • Some weekend and evening work may be required, may need to work other hours than normally assigned or after normal end shift, and/or may be assigned to another shift as needed.
  • Arrive on time, prepared to work.
  • Perform daily vehicle safety inspections.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to all residents, guests, volunteers, employees.
  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and possess ability to navigate within the Greater Rochester area.
  • Obey New York State Traffic laws at all times.
