About The Position

The position involves driving a gasoline or diesel-powered tractor-trailer combination to move trailers within a yard, ensuring safe and efficient operations. The driver is responsible for verifying equipment conditions, maintaining records, and assisting with loading and unloading tasks. The role emphasizes safety, operational efficiency, and adherence to company standards.

Requirements

• Three to five years of tractor-trailer driving experience with an accident-free record.
• Forklift experience, including sit-down and stand-up models, as well as motorized and non-motorized pallet jacks.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Legible writing skills and basic math skills.
• Decision-making ability regarding customer acceptance based on experience.
• Professional communication skills and good interpersonal skills.
• Solid command of English, both written and verbal.
• Attention to detail for continuous mental and visual attention.

Nice To Haves

• Spanish speaking skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Secures and moves trailers between dock doors and yard parking slots according to the shipping schedule.
• Verifies condition of trailers, markings, and seal numbers before movement.
• Maintains records related to hour usage, equipment inspections, and trailer movement reports.
• Inspects truck equipment and supplies for safety, including tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water.
• Ensures equipment is not driven off property and coordinates with towing services for off-site repairs.
• Assists with bay maintenance, pallet inventory, and warehouse sanitation when not moving trailers.
• Helps workers in loading and unloading trailers.
