About The Position

As a Driver Trainee at Republic Services, you will embark on a comprehensive training program designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL). This position is crucial as it prepares you to take on the responsibilities of a Driver within the company, which includes operating various types of vehicles in our Residential, Commercial, Industrial, or Roll-Off lines of business. The training program encompasses classroom study, on-route training, and practical driving experience, ensuring that you are well-prepared for the CDL examination. Republic Services is committed to providing you with the resources needed to succeed, including the loan of a truck for your training. Upon successful completion of the CDL training program, you will be expected to perform a variety of tasks that are essential to the role of a Driver. This includes conducting thorough pre- and post-operation inspections of your assigned vehicle to ensure it is in safe working order, operating heavy or commercial trucks along designated routes, and adhering to all safety policies and procedures. You will also learn to identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers, monitor waste for unacceptable materials, and maintain the operational readiness of your vehicle to minimize downtime. After obtaining your CDL, you will transition into a Driver position, where you will take on all responsibilities associated with that role.
