About The Position

The position involves assisting the driver in unloading products at customer locations according to customer invoices, Preferred Work Methods, and company policies. The role requires developing good relationships with customers by providing excellent service and learning the route on the current bid. The employee will assist in all aspects of route paperwork and must work safely by following SYGMA’s Preferred Work Methods. Additional duties include assisting the driver in pre-trip inspections, coupling equipment, ensuring safety compliance, and helping with delivery setups at customer locations.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to read and write clearly.
• Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public and understand highway traffic signs.
• Previous food distribution and frozen food handling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Unload product according to customer specifications and SYGMA delivery procedures at customer locations.
• Develop and establish good relationships with customers by providing excellent, courteous service.
• Learn route on current bid.
• Assist in all aspects of route paperwork.
• Work safely by following SYGMA’s Preferred Work Methods.
• Assist the driver in the pre-trip and coupling of equipment.
• Ensure tandems are properly and safely locked out to meet applicable laws for weight requirements.
• Provide assistance in routing with map reading and giving directions on route.
• Help with situations involving low clearances.
• Assist with delivery setup at the customer location.
• Assist driver in backing situations by getting out of the truck and watching for hazards.
