About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to deliver and/or pick-up home medical equipment, ensuring all appropriate documents are signed and/or provided to the donor or recipient of home medical equipment. The employee will also train the customer on the use of equipment delivered. The Driver/Technician also evaluates the condition of gently used medical equipment donated to Goodwill Home Medical Equipment. Responsible for evaluating and refurbishing items, such as, but not limited to, medical beds, wheelchairs, scooters, hoyers, walkers, pediatric, and other motorized equipment. Also responsible for maintaining and organizing the parts department. The position is a member of the Home Medical Equipment team.

  • The physical demands and work environment include, but are not limited to, standing, walking, handling, reaching, bending, kneeling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to be flexible and over other areas of GHME when needed.
  • Vision corrected to within normal limits.
  • Ability to function in a hectic work environment with occasional periods of high stress.

Nice To Haves

  • High School or GED equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Experience in repairs, bicycle shop, auto mechanic, or appliance repairs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Goodwill policies and safety procedures.
  • Must possess professional etiquette.
  • Must maintain a clean and neat personal appearance at all times.
  • Must wear company issued uniform.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Must be able to read and interpret maps and GPS directions.
  • Must be able to follow traffic signs and street signs to get to destination.
  • Must be able to load and unload home medical equipment into the van or truck, maintaining clean and dirty areas.
  • Experience or willing to learn technical issues for assembling and disassembling of medical beds.
  • Must be able to ensure that the items being delivered or picked up match the manifest.
  • Ensure that all appropriate documents are signed and/or provided to the donor or recipient of home medical equipment.
  • Must have basic knowledge of vehicle safety (tires, brakes, lights, gas, etc.).
  • Monitor vehicle maintenance (adding fluids and oil as needed) and provide driver log, miles, gas receipts, and manifests to Operations Manager on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for maintaining communication with Operations Manager and Team Lead to avoid delays of assignments.
  • Responsible for evaluating and refurbishing items, such as, but not limited to, wheelchairs, hospital beds, scooters, hoyers, walkers, pediatric, and other motorized equipment. Includes diagnosis and mechanical repair of items.
  • Meets daily, weekly, and monthly refurbishing quotas for Goodwill Home Medical Equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining and organizing the parts department.
  • Must maintain a clean and neat personal appearance at all times.
  • Must wear company issued uniform.
  • Act as a positive role model for trainees, staff and customers in regards to all aspects of professional performance.
  • Follow company policies and safety procedures.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Other essential duties as assigned.
