About The Position

The purpose of this position is to coordinate, track, and document the movement of parts going to and from vendors, and to transport parts from one department, plant, or vendor. The role assures accurate and timely movement of parts through the manufacturing process and maintains quality records, invoices, and packing slips to support quality documentation requirements. Essential functions include verification, transport, and tracking of parts, maintaining lot integrity and part identification, and entering accurate inventory and location information into Visibility and EPMS. The driver will also be responsible for housekeeping, maintaining a neat and organized truck, and adhering to plant and department safety rules, including the safe operation of all equipment and tools. Specific duties for SSBO include working with a computerized inventory control system and significant computer entry.

Requirements

  • Current and valid operator’s/drivers license.
  • Minimum of two (2) years licensed driving experience.
  • At least 21 years of age or older.
  • Minimum of one year driving experience within 30-mile radium of plant.
  • Ability to follow written instructions.
  • Ability to organize information and materials, and attend to details.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to organize/manage time and workloads effectively and to work independently.
  • Ability to attend to detail, resolve record keeping problems and work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to interact effectively with others.
  • Ability to work in difficult working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes and other elements for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to drive a truck (up to 26,000 LBS GVW).
  • PCC's Fork Lift Driving Safety Certification Training must be completed.
  • Training in Materials Resource Planning computerized inventory control systems.
  • Required to complete Hazardous Waste Management Training.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous manufacturing floor experience or dispatching experience affording knowledge of the importance of part location tracking is preferred.
  • Previous data entry and inventory control experience preferred.
  • Experience in Visibility or an MRP system is preferred.
  • Familiarity with GPS devises or map apps.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, track, and document the movement of parts going to and from vendors.
  • Transport parts from one department, plant, or vendor.
  • Assure accurate and timely movement of parts through the manufacturing process.
  • Maintain quality records, invoices, and packing slips in order to assure accurate records and reports are maintained to support quality documentation requirements.
  • Verify and match part lots with paperwork, purchase orders, routing information, serial numbers, quantities, etc. before transporting lots to next location/vendor.
  • Check for and assure the completion of necessary signoffs on work completion and/or routing information before transporting lots to next location/vendor.
  • Meet with Leads to reconcile problems regarding paperwork/part inaccuracies, assures communication among production departments related to product movement.
  • Follow routers; move parts by hand, pallet jack, electric jack and with fork lifts and hoists.
  • Perform and Coordinate loading and unloading and strapping loads in of product to and from Division service centers, e.g. machine shop, vendors, SSB1, HIP, LSBS, SSBO; updates computerized inventory control system to reflect locations; directly move product as needed.
  • Move equipment and parts as needed within the teams as needed.
  • Make computer entries to update the inventory and location of parts; enters transaction codes on all lot movements.
  • Assure that part lot numbers are accurately accounted for upon return from vendor.
  • Dispatch "all" jobs and moves the parts to the next location.
  • Complete daily cycle counts; lot moves to keep accurate inventory control.
  • Clean floors, sweeps aisles and keeps aisles free of parts and pallets.
  • Adhere to plant and department safety rules.
  • Safely operate all equipment and tools.
  • Identify and report safety problems.
  • Complete logs and records for trucks.
  • Obtain medical card.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.
  • Work with computerized inventory control system; requires significant computer entry.
