Under the supervision of the Transportation Coordinator, is responsible for the direct transportation of physically limited passengers to and from their destinations. Position requires constant interaction with caregivers and community agencies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred, plus at least 1 year of experience transporting individuals with special mobility needs
  • Valid Chauffeur/CDL driver's license with a clean driving record required
  • Ability to safely operate handicap-accessible vehicles
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to work effectively in a group setting

Responsibilities

  • Communicates effectively with participants, families, staff, and outside agencies
  • Safely transports physically limited individuals using a specially equipped van, including proper use of wheelchair lifts and securement equipment
  • Follows and adjusts schedules as needed, determining safe and efficient routes
  • Assists passengers safely during boarding and exiting, and responds to basic medical or emergency situations as needed
  • Inspects, cleans, and maintains the van in safe operating condition, reporting maintenance needs
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and contributes to participant care planning
  • Reports changes in participant condition to appropriate team members
  • Completes required documentation accurately and timely
