The position involves combining motor vehicle handling ability, communication skills, and patient/resident handling. Sensitivity and confidentiality regarding patients/residents are essential and must be practiced at all times. The driver must develop an understanding of the patient's/resident's physical and emotional status while working with all ages of patients/residents. Responsibilities include safe transportation as scheduled, maintaining support equipment in good operating condition, setting up equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations and internal policy, and maintaining appropriate records per Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements and internal reports. The driver must also communicate any scheduling conflicts as needed or predicted.
