Requirements

  • Experience explaining policy, procedure and/or laws to educate customers or the public.
  • Customer service experience with a friendly, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Knowledge of basic computer software including database programs and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in evaluation of information or documents to make determinations for actions.
  • Experience working as a collaborative team player using problem-solving skills.
  • Experience composing written communication using typing skills.
  • Graduation from high school and at least two years of clerical, administrative, or paraprofessional experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with collection and disbursement of cash.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to internal systems.

Responsibilities

  • Administer eligibility tests for Driver License, Commercial Driver License, Learners permits and ID cards.
  • Evaluate applicants' knowledge of NC Motor Vehicle laws and identification of road signs.
  • Check vision and observe/evaluate driving skills by riding with customers during road tests.
  • Serve as a public advisor to identify health concerns with drivers.
  • Advise customers of adjunct service programs available.
  • Ensure accurate entry of applicant data and court ordered information into internal systems.
  • Reduce wait times and improve customer service.
