About The Position

The Driver, Jockey play a key role in maintaining the smooth operation of our yard and dock activities. As a Driver, Jockey you will operate switching equipment, tractors, and straight trucks to transport goods or equipment between designated locations. You will make scheduling decisions to ensure efficient loading and unloading operations while adhering to safety standards. Additional responsibilities include refueling vehicles on-site and documenting the location and condition of equipment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s license.
• Basic computer skills.
• Availability to work 12-hour variable shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Ability to push, pull, reach, bend, stoop, twist, climb, grasp, and lift up to 55 pounds.
• Must be able to work at heights and in small spaces.
• Ability to work effectively in a challenging team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate switching equipment to maintain safe and efficient dock operations by switching trailers and equipment to and from docks.
• Verify container and trailer numbers while moving them in the yard.
• Perform daily yard checks and inspect truck equipment, including tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water. Notify supervision of anticipated or current repair needs.
• Maintain housekeeping in assigned work areas.
• Refuel equipment on-site and monitor fuel levels appropriately.
• Secure loads properly, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
• Communicate issues or concerns to management promptly.
• Follow all safety procedures and workplace policies.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records, adhering to required policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
