About The Position

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university
  • Four years of full-time work experience in public administration (e.g., public sector clerical or managerial work, program oversight, strategic planning, auditing, or law enforcement)
  • A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to two years of full-time work within the Motor Vehicle Division of the Iowa Department of Transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and score motorcycle skills, car, truck, passenger and CDL pre-trip, skills and road driving examinations
  • Administer special reexaminations (written, driving, or visual)
  • Provide expert knowledge of driver's license eligibility, licensing requirements, and identification requirements based on federal REAL ID standards
  • Issue licenses or identification documents to Iowa drivers and citizens
  • Review State and Federal record and database information to determine issuance/non-issuance eligibility
  • Act as the point of contact for team and customer questions and inquiries
  • Assist supervisor with team responsibilities and coordination
  • Maintain day-to-day operations of the service center
  • Mentor and train team members to help grow and develop their skills.
