About The Position

Under the supervision of the NorCal (Salinas, Watsonville, and Merced) Fleet Supervisor, the Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver plays a key role in delivering positive and supportive transportation experiences for all Call the Car members. The Driver safely operates company vehicles to ensure members are transported with care, respect, and reliability. This role focuses on clear, friendly communication, assisting passengers throughout their journey, and creating a comfortable experience that reflects Call the Car’s commitment to exceptional customer service, safety, and on-time performance.

Requirements

  • Must have valid Class C California Driver’s License and clean driving record.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of isolated shifts driving to and from locations in company vehicles.
  • Ability to remain in a seated position for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Availability to work hours ranging from 12:00 AM – 12:00 PM Weekdays, Weekends, and/or Holidays.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to de-escalate member concerns.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint) and dispatch software.
  • Experience using software programs including but not limited to various Bambi Dispatch or similar navigation systems.
  • Ability to use a smartphone and/or tablet.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must pass a criminal background screening and government exclusion check at hire and monthly thereafter.
  • Must pass OIG Exclusion and SAM Exclusion Listing at time of hire and monthly thereafter.
  • Must pass Sex Offender Registry Search at time of hire and annually thereafter.
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records check at time of hire and continuously during employment.
  • Must pass Drug & Alcohol Screenings at time of hire and randomly thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains clear communication between Members, Dispatchers, Medical Facilities, Dialysis Centers and CTC Management.
  • Utilizes customer service skills to build and maintain positive working relationships with off-site facility workers as a representative of the Company.
  • Maintains 100% accuracy when performing trips.
  • Conducts daily safety and maintenance inspections of assigned vehicles at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Operates smartphone or tablet with access to email and internet to navigate and communicate with the Dispatch and leadership team.
  • Demonstrates genuine compassion and patience for all members.
  • Performs “Door thru Door” service.
  • Effectively determines the most efficient routes for trips using Bambi devices.
  • Adapts to continuously changing work environments.
  • Employs defensive driving skills to accommodate for all applicable weather and traffic conditions.
  • Uses problem-solving skills to prepare for frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Works efficiently and completes assigned work in a timely manner.
  • Constantly observes safety and security procedures, particularly when transporting members.
  • Reviews schedules in advance to notify the Dispatch Team or Fleet Manager should the schedule need to be adjusted to account for pickup or drop-off times.
  • Communicates with Dispatch Team via Bambi messaging regarding real-time Member status updates as they arise.
  • Reports all Incidents or Accidents immediately to the Fleet Manager.
  • Acts as representative of the Company through professional and respectful conduct.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management.
