About The Position

Overview The Driver I will operate a commercial small truck or van (a vehicle that weighs under 26,000 lbs.) to make safe and efficient deliveries and pickups. The Driver I should hold a valid driver's license. SPUR Drivers are responsible for safely and accurately deliver and pickup cargo, keep accurate driving log and for inspect and maintain the company trucks.

Requirements

  • Reading and writing English, knowledge of airport codes destinations and basic geography knowledge
  • Must be detail oriented and able to work in fast pace, high volume environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Actively participates in safety policies, activities, and implementations
  • Maintain a current Medical Card
  • Have an acceptable MVR (Motor Vehicle Record)
  • Must be a TSA-certified truck driver and obtain a STA number upon employment
  • Must be able to pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam and road test
  • No more than three (3) moving violations in the past 36 months (or combination of two (2) moving violations previous 12 months. Moving violations include seatbelt and cell phone violations.
  • No preventable accidents involving a fatality, bodily injuries treated awayfrom the scene, or disabling damage to a motor vehicle within three years

Responsibilities

  • Drive truck to and from specified destinations safely and follow all state, local laws, and DOT regulations.
  • Focus on safety and compliance including the real time reporting of any accidents, incidents encountered on the road, monitoring of road conditions and following all applicable traffic laws
  • Handle general fleet maintenance including appropriate fueling, cleaning of truck, washing of windows, full inspection of truck before and after trip and proactive reporting of any maintenance needs
  • Prepare receipt for load picked up or bill of lading.
  • Maintain driver hours of service using electronics logs and ensures rest periods according to state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain and ensures compliance with DOT and other applicable regulations, including State or Federal regulations.
  • Provide timely communication with supervisor/ manager regarding the status of daily route; including, when stops have been completed, when taking lunch or other brakes, and prior to clocking out
  • Ensure timeliness of client delivery by proactively anticipating any delivery challenges and ensuring timely departure
  • Inspect truck equipment and supplies. Ensure time, date, verification, and signature on all freight paperwork.
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs, secure cargo with proper equipment; load bars, e-track, and straps during transit.
  • May load and unload truck when not driving the truck.
  • May operate a forklift or pallet jack when not driving the truck.
  • Destination may be either Short Haul or Long Haul
  • Maintain a clean work environment and follow safety policies.
  • Other duties and responsibilities will be assigned as business demands deem necessary
